I had the pleasure of working with Aylen doing the mixdown and mastering of his latest release, entitled “The Remixtape”. It’s a compilation of some of his remixes in various styles, the most prominent of which is bass-heavy electro house (we called it complextro). I highly recommend fans of Mord Fustang, Porter Robinson, and Zedd download this project! Also, check out his extensive and very popular Soundcloud page!
Powerful team for one of my favorite DJ’s birthday parties! Jasmine Solano, Max Glazer, MeLo-X, and yours truly, hosted by Vashtie. Need I say more? See you there! Oh, and Heineken is one of my favorite beers!
A few weeks ago, I was checking out Kirill’s (of KirillWasHere.com) photos of A-Trak spinning before for Swedish House Mafia at Madison Square Garden, and noticed that he was using Traktor control records! For those who don’t know, Traktor is the direct competition to Serato Scratch Live (my DJing software of choice).
If you look closely at the photo above, you can see what I’m talking about, and you get a real solid view of his records and laptop in THIS photo. Also, check out the video. Considering A-Trak has been one of Serato’s biggest supporters from the beginning, and likely had some influence on my choosing Serato over competing software at the time, I couldn’t keep my mouth shut. I brought it up in the Serato forum, which has been quite active on the subject (400 posts in 2 weeks!). I brought it up purely out of curiosity and to see what people thought
Anyway, someone just posted a video of A-Trak, DJ Craze, and Laidback Luke teaching Luke how to scratch aboard Holy Ship in thhat thread which was very amusing, and will definitely interest you if you’ve just read this far.
Oh, and the song that comes in at 4:11? I was wondering too, it’s called “Cut Dick” by Mr. Oizo. Funky as hell.
I just did another video tutorial for my friends over at Winksound covering three Mac apps that are integral to my workflow once I’m done with a track in Ableton. XLD, VOX, and Cloud. Check it out!
I could probably write a long piece about how amazing Shook’s new EP is, but the music speaks for itself. It’s really really good. Filter Disco, Funk, Boogie, More Funk, Synthesizers, and some Funk to top it all off. Stream it below and buy it HERE!
After another year’s work with my man Zak Downtown, we’ve got a great mixtape to show for it. It’s not long, but it consists of ten carefully thought out songs (of which I produced five) that range from oldschool hip-hop (Bad Man’s World / Gift or a Curse) to a more modern dubstep-pop hybrid (One For The Books). Also, our friend Phil Wong did an amazing job on the artwork! I recorded and mixed it all at the Moodswing 360 studio, and it features production from J Fizz, TGIK, Hollagrafik, Astro Raw, and David Lange. Download this project, you won’t be dissapointed! And don’t forget to “Like” Zak Downtown on Facebook to keep up with the lastest! Download a zip of the whole mixtape HERE. -FD
